CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD

Are you unfamiliar with Children’s Liturgy of the Word?
No problem!

It is open to children ages 4-10 on Sunday mornings during the 10 am Mass unless otherwise announced. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is a special form of the Liturgy of the Word that allows children to participate actively in the Mass.

The primary purpose is to encourage children to engage with the Scripture readings during Mass in an age-appropriate and meaningful way.
The children leave the main church and gather in a separate space near the Maria Goretti room. There, they participate in a simplified version of the Liturgy of the Word tailored to their level of understanding.

The content includes readings from the Bible, reflections, prayers, and discussions related to the Gospel or other Scripture passages. It aims to help children connect with the Word of God and apply it to their lives.
It’s important to note that Children’s Liturgy of the Word is not equivalent to PSR or religion classes in a Catholic school. It is an integral part of the ritual prayer of the Mass, just like the Liturgy of the Word for adults. Resources, such as coloring pages, worksheets, puzzles, and possibly videos, are available as support. Families can use these materials to enhance children’s understanding of the Gospel and Scripture.

If your children want to attend, they will be called forward just before the Liturgy of the Word begins and will return after the homily. We ask that you sit on the side of the Blessed Mother so that the children can find you easily when returning.
