Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Alpha?  Alpha is an opportunity for anyone, anywhere, to freely explore their unique questions about life, faith and God.

Why should I come?    You should come to meet people from every walk of life who may have the same questions as you do. You should come to learn from a great talk. You should come to listen to your brothers and sisters. You should come to share your own experiences.

Is there a fee to attend?    No; Alpha is completely free and registration is not required, but appreciated.
Please click here to register.

What does an Alpha night look like?    Each Alpha night begins with dinner at 6:30 pm. After sharing a meal, we come together to watch a video presentation. The evening concludes with a conversation in your small group. Every week focuses on a different topic, and all feedback is welcomed!

Do I have to come to each week of the program?    There are ten Thursday evening sessions. While attendance is not required each and every week, it is certainly encouraged. Come to one, two, many, or all sessions. The more often you attend, the more you can learn and grow!

Is Alpha Catholic?    Alpha originally began as a Christian movement in the 1990s. Since that time, over 29 million people have been affected by Alpha. OLMC is running Alpha-Catholic, which is specific to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and is endorsed by diocesan officials, bishops, and pastors. This program does not serve as a Bible or catechism study, nor as a replacement for these important resources. For a brief explanation of Alpha through the lens of a Catholic parish, please click here.

Do I need to know a lot about faith?    You are free to come into these sessions with absolutely no previous knowledge, experience, or a faith background. Alpha is designed to meet every single guest where they currently are and to support them on the journey.

I know a lot about my faith; should I still come?    By all means! If you are already living out your faith in a profound way, we would love to have you come to Alpha. All shared experiences carry important lessons for others, and we want you to feel comfortable to share yours.

What is the role of the seminarians and Alpha at OLMC?    OLMC is running Alpha in conjunction with St. Mary Seminary. Four first-year theology students (Ian, Scott, Jim, and Cameron) will be assisting us by running the nights as a part of their ongoing study in the New Evangelization.

How do I get more information?    Feel free to contact the Parish Office at (440) 585-0700, or just come to any of the Thursday night sessions!
